USB Protocol Info

The iPhone uses various USB protocols for different modes:

• dfu - Device Firmware Update mode, used for low-level recovery
• iboot - iBoot communication protocol (used for the normal “recovery mode”)
• Layered communications - Multiplexed communications protocols used during normal operation for e.g. syncing
